The hype machine for WATCHMEN MOVIE caught up to me, so I dug out my old copy of the trade and read it through again, for like the millionth time
Yep, still the best comic book ever made
only THIS TIME, it caused me to draw something
something stupid
I am nothing if not predictable, after all

Where's VEIDT, you ask?
Oh, I have PLANS for Veidt

(p.s. HI, poor neglected livejournal! HI, poor neglected livejournal friends! I am a terrible man, I know) |

as you can see, i'm still working on Double K
i had an epiphany while working on a page a couple weeks ago, and that epiphany was that i detest inking comics
i'm fine inking little sketches and the odd larger illustration here and there but i just CANNOT STAND inking panels, it is an infuriatingly tedious process that only leads to more tedium as i inevitably have to waste more time fixing mistakes in photoshop - which, incidentally, is a far more natural process for me
so, after a lot of thought, and despite it being kind of out of my price range, i broke down and bought a Cintiq
and i don't regret it for ONE SECOND
see that panel up there? i did that in no time - literally minutes after i set the tablet up - and it's crisper and cleaner than almost anything in the hundreds of comic pages i've done in my life (we'll see how things go with the speed lines, but hey)
of course, there's a definite learning curve to surmount, but i'm already convinced that i'm going to be doing all the rest of my comic drawing on a computer, this thing is THAT EXCELLENT
so yes, i humbly ask your patience as i readjust my drawing habits. i will return to you MIGHTIER THAN EVER |

This has been a stupid past few days
Work has been incredibly plentiful for me, which is good for my bank account but bad for relaxation/drawing time, plus the next fricking million pages of Double K all feature cars going really fast and I am pretty shitty at drawing cars, so what little drawing time I've got is usually spent staring at pictures of cars and slamming my head into the wall when I can't get my scrawlings to look like them
BALLLLLLLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'll get there, though, half of the reason I decided to do Double K in the first place was to practice drawing things I have a hard time with so RRRRGGGGHHHH BACK TO WORK LIKE A REAL MAN
also here, have a retarded Diebuster sharpie drawing I colored in 10 minutes, hahaha

if I end up doing a nice finished version of this the background is going to be Dix-Neuf picking his nose |

I drew this today because I needed to clear my head of Double K nonsense

It is, of course, shamelessly "inspired" by Alex's own - and completely AWESOME - drawing of Samus and Snake, which is a lot better than mine ;_;
and seriously, Samus x Snake OTP lolol
Will finish this up in the morning |
